Zanzibar

Zanzibar Islands are located in the Indian Ocean about 35 kilometers off the Coast of Mainland Tanzania at longitude 39˚E and latitude 6˚S of the Equator. Stone Town, Zanzibar’s capital, is what makes the island so different from a thousand other Tropical Isles. Behind its elegant waterfront, it is a place of winding alleys, bustling bazaars, and grand Arab houses whose original owners fought with each other over the extravagance of their dwellings. One of the most characteristic aspects of these ancient mansions is the brass-studded, carved, wooden doors – there are more than 500 different examples of this handwork.

The vivid colors, perfumes, and smells of Stone Town both pleasant and unpleasant leave a strong impact on the visitor. The senses are heightened and the impact is sometimes overwhelming. You either love Stone Town or you hate it, fortunately, most fall in love with the town and never forget it. There are now excellent accommodations in Zanzibar for all Budgets, from Luxury Hotels to Budget Beach Hotels. The dilemma for those visiting Zanzibar is that the East and West Coasts of the island should both be experienced. The West Coast offers Stone Town which needs to be discovered, a spice tour, a visit to the Persian baths, the dolphins at Kizimkazi, the beautiful beach at Mangapwani, and the islands off Stone Town. The East Coast offers an immense stretch of sand as far as the eye can reach and total tranquility. Most visitors split their time between both but those with only a short stay can stay at one of the locations in or near the town or on the islands opposite and arrange excursions around the island. For those with a longer stay you can visit the beautiful Island or the isolated island of Mafia Island. Both islands offer exceptional diving and fishing.

Africa Greatwalks Limited – Tour Consultants always recommend that visitors combine a short stay in Stone Town so as to explore the history and architecture of the isles’ cultural heart, with a stay on one of the beautiful Indian Ocean beaches. The East Coast of Zanzibar Island features
several establishments on the beach, ranging from small and intimate properties to larger resort outfits. Thus, can always design any leisure beach holiday and tours to Zanzibar Island to produce a rich experience for all budgets to enjoy on the beaches of Zanzibar, Pemba, and Mafia islands. We put into consideration many unique features including carefully choosing hotels, which provide the best value to make your beach holiday both memorable and affordable for the places to visit.
